Full name is Raimel Antonio Tapia. Has three brothers and three sisters...His older brothers, Rafael Tapia, Antonio Linarez and Jose Linarez, all played professional baseball but none are currently active players. His brother, Antonio, runs a Little League program in the Dominican Republic. Nicknamed El Cangrejo (“the crab”). Wore number 15 in Little League, his favorite number. In 2020, donated and delivered food and supplies to his neighbors in the Dominican Republic at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Traded from the Rockies to the Blue Jays with INF Adrian Pinto, in exchange for OF Randal Grichuk on 3/24. Made TOR’s Opening Day roster and spent the entire season with the Blue Jays. Played in 128 games and recorded a career-high 52 RBI. Made 48 starts in LF, 33 in CF, 25 in RF and one at DH. Recorded three HR and 16 RBI in 15 games against the Red Sox, including 12 RBI in six games at Fenway Park. On 4/26 vs. BOS, plated the winning run with a sac fly in the 10th inning on the ninth pitch of his at-bat. On 6/8 at KC, hit a HR estimated at 441 feet, the second-longest homer of his career (442 feet on 5/21/21 vs. ARI). Recorded a career-high six RBI on 7/22 at BOS, becoming the second Blue Jay ever to hit an inside-the-park grand slam. Recorded at least one RBI in a career-best six consecutive games from 7/10-27.
