Graduated from Hart High School in Santa Clarita, Calif., the same high school that produced Major Leaguers James Shields, Kevin Millar, Bob Walk and Todd Zeile...as a junior at HHS went 12-0, 0.79 to earn first-team All-CIF Southern Section Division I and All-Southern Selection honors from the California Baseball Coaches Association (CBCA)...also was named to the Los Angeles Times’ high school All-Star team...attended UCL A, where in three seasons he went 38-4, 2.36 and each year was named to the All-Pac-10 team...was the first pitcher in UCL A histor y to win at least 10 games in more than one season...finished his career ranked among the school’s all-time career leaders in wins (1st), innings pitched (1st), strikeouts (1st), complete games (2nd, 15) and ERA (8th)...as a junior in 2011 went 13-2, 1.25 with 203 strikeouts in 16 starts...that season established single-season team and Pac-10 records for strikeouts while leading all collegiate pitchers in complete games (10) and strikeouts...following that 2011 campaign earned the prestigious Golden Spikes Award and was named the National Player of the Year by Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball, College Baseball Foundation and Perfect Game USA... also was named 2011 Pac-10 Pitcher of the Year and was a finalist for that year’s Dick Howser Trophy, awarded to the top NCA A Division I player...as a sophomore in 2010 went 12-3, 3.02 in 18 starts, became the first Bruins pitcher to lead the nation in strikeouts (165 in 131.1ip) and received second-team All-America recognition from Baseball America and Collegiate Baseball...in 2009 was named Freshman Pitcher of the Year by Louisville Slugger and first-team Freshman All-America by Collegiate Baseball and several other publications af ter finishing 9-3, 2.99 with 2 saves in 10 starts and 10 relief apps...was Pac-10 Freshman of the Year...established a school record for wins by a freshman...in 2009 played for the Team USA national collegiate team...in 2015 was nominated for the Bob Feller Award af ter teaming with and designing a t-shirt for Athletes Brand to benefit the Lone Sur vivor Foundation, which spreads awareness and raises money for soldiers returning from active duty...in August 2016 funded and hosted Cleveland Indians Career Day for students from Max Hayes High School who were interested in technology and robotics...in 2017, together with Carlos Carrasco created special t-shirts featuring their unique baseball art work that benefited hurricane relief efforts in Texas and Puerto Rico...started production company Momentum Films LLC to raise the profile and brand of other small-market MLB players and to promote baseball as a sport for youths, giving the opportunit y for current players to humanize themselves while allowing fans unique access points...in 2019 received a PG Sports Social Media Award as baseball’s Athlete of the Year...early in his professional career trained at the Texas Baseball Ranch and at a seminar there first met Driveline Baseball’s Kyle Boddy, currently the Reds’ director of pitching initiatives and pitching coordinator...Bauer became Driveline’s first professional client and now spends two months in the off-season in the Seattle area.

2021

Started 17 games in his first season as a Dodger, going 8-5 with a 2.59 ERA (31 ER/107.2 IP)…was put on the restricted list July 2 and did not return for the rest of the season... Struck out 137 batters and walked just 37…garnered a 1.00 WHIP and limited the opposition to a .182 average... Pitched a complete game April 29 at Milwaukee, allowing just two earned runs on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks…had two complete games in 2020 (8/2 at DET and 8/19 at KC)... Notched five 10+ strikeout games, including in his Dodger debut on April 2 at Colorado... Ranked among the Major League leaders in batters faced (911, 1st), starts (T1st), innings pitched (3rd) and strikeouts (5th), all career highs...was 1 of only 7 pitchers to make 34 starts ... Recorded at least 200 strikeouts for the second straight season and at least 30 starts for third time in 5 years ... Spent virtually the entire year in the Indians rotation, finishing second on the team in innings pitched (153.0) while logging a professional career-high of 199.0 IP between Columbus and Cleveland...Began the year in Triple-A Columbus and made his 2014 Major League debut in a doubleheader/" spot" start as the 26th man on April 9 vs. San Diego (L, 6.0IP , 4H, 2R/1E R, 8K ).... Was also with Cleveland from May 20-remainder of the season...Finished fourth among American League rookie pitchers in starts (26) and strikeouts (T -4th, 143), fifth in innings pitched (153.0) and 11th in ERA (4.18).
