Acquired by Atlanta from Cincinnati in exchange for minor-league RHP J.J. Hoover on 4/1. In his 42 starts at third base, batted .262 (39-for-149) with eight home runs and 26 RBI. Posted his third three-hit game of the season on 7/31, going 3-for-3 with two RBI vs. MIA. Snapped an 0-for-11 hitless spell with a double on 10/2 at PIT in the fourth inning. Batted .298 (25-for-84) with four home runs and 18 RBI in 46 games at home, compared to .185 (20-for-108) with five home runs and 14 RBI in 47 games on the road. Batted .307 (39-for-127) with seven doubles, nine home runs and 29 RBI in 34 games for Tigres del Licey of the Dominican Winter League.
2011
Spent most of the season at Louisville...made all 20 starts for the Reds at 3B...began the
season in Cin and hit .211 in 9 apps and 3 starts at 3B before he went on the disabled list on 4/18 with a strained
left calf...on 5/17 was reinstated from the DL and optioned to Louisville, where he spent the rest of the minor
league season...rejoined the Reds as a September callup and in 22 apps and 17 starts the rest of the season

where he was a mid-season and post-season Florida State League All-Star...led all Reds minor leaguers in
HR (23) and RBI (92)...led the Florida State League in extra-base hits (62) and ranked among FSL leaders
in RBI (2nd), hits (143, T2nd), doubles (34, T3rd), HR (4th) and slugging percentage (.496, 4th)...in Baseball
America's Best Tools issue was rated the best power hitter and best defensive third baseman in the Florida
State League...played for the World Team in the 2008 XM All-Star Futures Game at Yankee Stadium...was the
organization's Minor League Player of the Month for August (.286, 8hr, 20rbi)...following the season played
for Cibao in the Dominican Winter League (40g, .360, 12hr, 37rbi) and established a DWL regular season
record for homers by a lefthanded batter with 12 (8hr, Rafael Batista, 1974-75)...he produced an additional 6

2nd), total bases (247, 2nd), at-bats (534, 2nd), games (135, 2nd), hits (143, 3rd), RBI (4th) and extra-base
hits (50, 5th)...ranked second among all Reds minor leaguers in home runs and RBI...hit .316 with runners
in scoring position (50-158)...was the East Division's starting third baseman in the Midwest League All-Star
Game...was ML Player of the Week for 8/13-8/19 (.370, 4hr, 1rbi)...7 times produced at least 4rbi in a game...
on 8/19 vs Lansing had 3 homers and 7rbi...in November was named by Baseball America the eighth-best
prospect in the Reds organization...that publication rated him as having "the system's best infield arm" and
"raw power that compares with that of Jay Bruce and Joey Votto"...following the season played for Cibao in
