In 2000 graduated from Pulaski County High School in Somerset, Kentucky...played baseball at Eastern Kentucky University, where in 2003 he was named the Ohio Valley Conference's Player of the Year...that season he led the nation with 57 stolen bases and became the first EKU player to be named to the Louisville Slugger All-Ameria first team.
2009
In 118 apps and 70 starts for the Tigers and Royals combined to hit .240 with 25 stolen bases in 30 attempts...played LF (49g, 31gs), CF (32g, 22gs) and RF (29g, 17gs)...went to spring training with the Braves but on 3/30 was traded to Det for RHP Rudy Darrow...was designated for assignment on 7/24 and 6 days later was traded to KC for cash considerations...following the season was not tendered a contract by the Royals and on 1/5/10 was signed by the Reds to a minor league deal with an invitation to Major League spring training camp.
2008
Was named Richmond Braves (AAA) Player of the Year. He hit .314 (155-for-494) with 25 2B and 42 SB in 121 games there. ...Hit .296 with 3 HR and 10 RBI, including 7-of-8 in SB attempts in September. ...Was a .322 hitter (29-for-90) at night and a .239 hitter (11-for-46) during the day. ...Hit right-handed pitchers at a .341 clip (31-for-91) and left-handed pitchers at a .200 clip (9-for-45). ...At the time of his final recall on 8/27, he ranked T1st in the International League in hits (155), was T3rd in stolen bases (42) and T4th in batting average (.314). ...Batted .291 (32-for-110) with 2 HR, 7 2B and 8 SB after his recall on 8/27. ...Named an IL Postseason All-Star. After IL AS break, hit .365 (62-for-170) w/20 SB at Richmond. ...Registered a 27-game hitting streak (50-for-120, .417) from 7/25-8/21, the longest such streak in the IL in 2008 and longest in Richmond history. ...Led off contest on 9/27 at HOU with his second career home run (his first ML homer came in the same fashion on 9/2/08 at FLA). Also homered in his second at-bat, for his first career multi-HR game. ...Also 9/27, had his fifth career game with 3+ hits and had a string of three consecutive multi-hit games from 9/24-27. ...Led off 9/2 at FLA with his first ML home run. Became the first Brave since Albert Hall (8/22/84 at PIT) to have his first career HR also be a leadoff HR. ...Snapped his eight-game hitting streak (.370, 10-for-27; dating back to 6/4) with his first career 0-for-5 outing on 8/31. ...Collected his first hit and SB of the season off the bench on 5/31 at CIN.
2007
Began the season at Round Rock (AAA) before being recalled on 9/1. Hit .358 (24-for-67) with three doubles and 11 RBI in 21 games with Houston. His .358 batting average was the fifth-highest after a September debut for an NL player since 1957 (min. 50 PA). Recorded a career-best nine-game hitting streak from 9/14-22, batting .463 (19-for-41) and had hits in 14 of his last 15 games. Recorded hits in seven consecutive at-bats from 9/16-17 (one shy of the Houston franchise record), including a five-hit game on 9/16 vs. PIT (two hits on 9/17 vs. MIL). He was the sixth Houston rookie to record a five-hit game and he reached base in all six plate appearances, a franchise rookie record for a nine-inning game. He was the first rookie since ARI's Conor Jackson (8/25/06) to reach base six times in one game. Reached base in nine consecutive plate appearances from 9/16-17. Recorded his first Major League hit on 9/14 vs. PIT on a third-inning infield single off Ian Snell. Made his Major League debut on 9/2 at CHI as a pinch-hitter (0-for-1). Hit .273 (140-for-513) with two home runs, 17 doubles and 43 RBI in 132 games for Round Rock and his 40 stolen bases ranked second in the Pacific Coast League.

Led the Texas League and ranked 11th in minor league baseball with 50 stolen bases at Double A Corpus Christi...led the Hooks in hits (148) and runs (67), and tied for fourth in the TL with nine triples...named a Texas League All-Star...earned the Hooks Player of the Year honors...named the Hooks Offensive Player of the Month for April after batting .344 with 31 hits, four RBI and 12 steals...batted .360 with 10 steals for the Surprise Scorpions in the 2005 Arizona Fall League...rated the Texas League's best defensive outfielder and fastest baserunner by Baseball America...listed as the No. 9 prospect in the Houston organization prior to the season by Baseball America.
2004
Led all of minor league baseball with 78 steals between Class A Lexington and Class A Salem...named a South Atlantic League All-Star and Postseason All-Star...finished third in the SAL in steals (47)...led the Avalanche with six triples...named Lexington's offensive player of the month twice.

Named a New York-Penn League All-Star and led Short-Season Class A Tri-City in steals (26, second in NYPL).
