His only other MLB time came in three games (0.1 IP) with TB in 2007. ...Had bone chips removed from his left elbow on 9/20 by Braves orthopedist Dr. Xavier Duralde and did not pitch again. ...Earned his first Major League win in Game 1 on 9/13 at NYM with 1.0 scoreless inning. ...Recalled from Richmond (AAA) for the second time on 9/2, after appearing in four games for Atlanta from 6/11-19 (4.1 IP/2 ER, 4.15 ERA), where he was 4-0 with four saves and a 5.47 ERA. Was recalled 9/16 from Durham (AAA) following the International League playoffs. Pitched in three games with Tampa and recorded one out, a pop out by major league home run champion Alex Rodriguez. Faced 10 batters, nine reached (five singles, triple, home run, walk, hit-batter). Made his major league debut 9/17 at LAA, entering in the 6th...faced two batters, allowing a single to Casey Kotchman and a triple to Howie Kendrick. Allowed three runs in his next outing, 9/21 vs. BOS, including a HR by David Ortiz. Last outing was 9/26 vs. NYY, recorded an out (A. Rodriguez pop out) but allowed four hits and three runs. Went 2-3 with four saves (nine opps) at Durham while appearing in a team-high 54 games and struck out 67 in 64.2 innings. Allowed lefties only a .163 average, while righthanders batted .269 off him. Has appeared in 201 games in the minors, 54 starts, since his 2000 debut.
2006
Split the season between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham going 2-4 with a 2.79 ERA in his first action above Class-A...Made a career-high 40 appearances throwing 58.0 combined innings, his most work since 2003...had not had more than 24 outings in a single season entering the year...Opened the season with the Biscuits going 1-0, striking out 29 batters in 19.1 IP...collected two saves with Montgomery: April 23 at Mississippi (Braves) and May 9 at Huntsville (Brewers)...Did not allow a run over his last 6 outings and permitted only 3 baserunners (2-H, 1-BB) earning a promotion to Durham on May 21...Was 1-4 with the Bulls appearing in 34 gms and working to a 3.03 ERA with 38 strikeouts in 38.2 IP...Combined at both stops to hold lefthanders to a .174 batting average (12-for-69)...overall batters hit just .211 off him...Took a leave from Durham in mid-August to join the United States Baseball Olympic Qualifying Team in Havana, Cuba...did not allow a run in 4 outings (2.2 IP) as Team USA defeated host Cuba for the tournament title...Participated in the Arizona Fall League with the champion Phoenix Desert Dogs...was 1-0 with a save and a 3.48 ERA in 13 appearances out of the 'pen, 12 of which were scoreless...all 4 runs he allowed came in his final outing of the regular season...the opposition batted just .158 off him managing only 2 hits in his first 12 outings...threw 1.0 scoreless inning in the title game earning the hold.
2005
Worked exclusively out of the bullpen with class-A Visalia in 2005...opened the year on the disabled list recovering from surgery in July, 2004 to remove bone spurs in the left elbow (sur- gery performed by Rays orthopedic surgeon Dr. Koco Eaton)...joined the Oaks May 25...was touched for 23 runs over his first 9 outings (9.00 ERA), then settled in to allow only 8 runs over the remainder of the season in 15 games (2.42 ERA)...included was a stretch of 17.2 innings in which he did not allow and earned run from July 10-Aug 10.
2004
Was limited to only 15 games in 2004 with Class-A Bakersfield working mainly out of the bullpen...had his season cut short on June 9 with inflammation in his left shoulder...earned his first career save on June 4 with 3.0 scoreless innings to close out a Blaze victory...his lone start came May 17 against Modesto (A's)...in 7 road games, he allowed only 1 earned run in 16.0 innings (0.56 ERA).
2003
Returned to class-A Charleston for 2003 appearing in 24 games making 19 starts...began his season with 7.0 shutout innings over two starts allowing only 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 8 in his first action since August of 2001...was one of six pitchers in the South Atlantic League to hit 12 or more batters.
2002
Missed the 2002 season recovering from offseason surgery to "clean up" the left shoulder (performed by Dr. Eaton).
2001
Threw a career-high 104.0 innings in a career-most 22 starts with Charleston in 2001...went three straight starts without allowing an earned run, June 26-July 7 (18.0-IP, 8-H, 1-R, 7-BB, 14-SO).
2000
Began his pro career with Princeton in 2000 making 15 starts for the Rays' rookie-level affiliate...struck out 60 batters in 54.2 innings of work ranking 4th in the Appalachian League in K's/9 IP...his 2.47 ERA was 2nd best in the league while his .230 opponent's batting average was 4th lowest on the circuit.
