His 75 appearances were tied for fourth-most in National League, behind Brad Ziegler (78), Ronald Belisario (77) and Paco Rodriguez (76). Allowed just four runs (all earned) over first 25 appearances for a 1.71 ERA (21.0 IP).
In span of next 39 games, posted 3.96 ERA (36.1/16) and finished campaign by tossing a season-best 10.1 scoreless innings in 11 appearances. Tossed season-high 2.0 innings on April 23 at Minnesota. Split season between Miami and Triple-A New Orleans, posting a combined 1-4
record and 4.82 ERA (61.2 IP/33 ER) in 72 appearances. Started season in Marlins' bullpen and surrendered seven runs (six earned) over first
eight games (5.2 IP) before being optioned to NOLA on April 29. Recalled on May 11, and in four appearances allowed five runs and eight hits before
going back to New Orleans on May 24. Recalled for final time on June 21 and posted a 1.76 ERA (30.2/6) over his next 41
appearances through September 16. Gave up seven runs over final seven outings,
however, giving him a 3.48 ERA (33.2/13) in 48 games during final stint with Marlins. Walked seven while striking out 24 with the Zephyrs, including a six-strikeout performance
on May 28 vs. Omaha. Tossed season-high 3.1 innings and allowed just
one hit in outing. Notched first career Major League save on July 16 vs. Washington, allowing one hit and one walk in 1.0 inning. Had gone 0x5 in
save opportunities prior to earning first save. On August 4 at Washington, allowed a career-high six runs (none earned) in 0.2 inning. After that date, tossed scoreless ball in
nine straight games (6.0 IP). On September 4 vs. Milwaukee, became just second Marlin in team history to record a loss when throwing two-or-less pitches.
