2006
Saunders made 13 starts for the Angels in 2006. He was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on July 18 and won his first Major League game that day, beating the Indians by allowing one earned run on four hits in seven innings. He was sent back down following the start, then recalled for good on Aug. 1. He pitched 205 2/3 innings between the Majors and Minors, the most he has thrown in any of his previous three seasons of professional baseball. Saunders won his first four starts of the year, allowing fewer than two earned runs in each contest, and finished 7-3 with a 4.71 ERA. The left-hander struck out a career-best eight batters against the Royals on Sept. 19. He won that game after giving up one earned run in seven innings. Saunders went 4-0 with a 1.30 ERA while starting on an extra day of rest, not including his first two starts for the Angels, as both followed Minor League outings. He was 2-3 with an 11.86 ERA on days with regular four days of rest. Saunders was named the organization's Minor League Pitcher of the Year. He went 10-4 with a 2.67 ERA in 21 games (20 starts) with Salt Lake.
2005
Began third professional season at double-A Arkansas...Registered 7-4 record with two complete games, one shutout and a 3.49 ERA (105.1 IP - 41 ER) in 18 starts...Allowed 107 hits (9 HR), walked 32 and struck out 80 batters... Tossed complete game, May 1 vs. San Antonio in the first game of a doubleheader (6-2 win; 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 0 ER, 6 SO) and complete game shutout, July 1 at Tulsa (4-0 score; 9 IP, 1 H, 2 BB, 6 SO, 1 WP)...Finished 4-1 with a 2.31 ERA (46.2 IP - 12 ER) in eight starts at home...Posted 2-0 record and 0.43 ERA (21 IP - 1 ER) in three starts in July, earning Organization Pitcher of the Month honors...Also named Texas League Pitcher of the Week for June 27-July 3...Strikeout high for season was 10, July 12 at San Antonio (7 IP)...Made nine starts at triple-A Salt Lake, recording 3-3 mark with one complete game shutout and a 4.58 ERA (55 IP - 28 ER)...Allowed 65 hits (3 HR), walked 21 and struck out 29...Blanked Las Vegas on one-hit, July 23 at Salt Lake in first game of doubleheader (4-0 score; 7 IP, 1 H, 4 BB, 7 SO)...Overall, was 10-7 with three complete games, two shutouts and a 3.86 ERA in 27 starts to earn Angels' Organization Pitcher of the Year...Was originally recalled by Angels, Aug. 16, and made major league debut same day vs. Toronto...Received no decision in Angels' 4-3 loss (7.1 IP, 5 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 1 HR, 2 BB, 2 SO)...Was optioned Aug. 17 and recalled final time, Sept. 6...Other start with Angels came Sept. 14 at Seattle, receiving no decision in Angles 10-9 loss (2 IP, 5 H, 6 R 6 ER, 2 HR, 2 BB, 2 SO). .168 average against.

Began third professional season at single-A Rancho Cucamonga, going 9-7 with 3.41 ERA (105.2 IP - 40 ER) in 19 starts...
