Limited right-handed hitters to a .229 batting average and left-handed hitters hit .343. Made six "quality" starts and the Braves went 11-9 in his 20 starts. Went 2-0 with a 2.40 ERA (4 ER/15.0 IP) in three starts against NL East-rival Florida. Contract was purchased from Richmond (AAA) prior to the game on 5/26. Earned his second career win with a seven-inning, one-hit performance on 6/5 in Game 1 of the DH vs. FLA. His lone run allowed came on a solo homer by Aaron Boone in the third inning. The win came seven years, 269 days after his first career win on 9/9/99 (while pitching for the Padres) - the longest such stretch between wins for any active major league pitcher. Posted his sixth win on 8/1 in a 12-3 decision over the Astros, but left the game after five innings due to a hyper-extended right elbow (suffered during his fifth-inning at-bat). Allowed two runs on five hits with no walks. Was the beneficiary of an offensive outburst vs. STL on 7/21, when the Braves scored 14 runs in the first four innings. Buddy went 6.0 innings and allowed three runs on seven hits. Won 7-4 on 7/6 at SD, throwing a career-high 8.0 innings and matching his career high with seven strikeouts (third time, last: 9/20/99 at CIN). Went seven innings on 6/26 vs. WSH, getting the win after allowing one run on five hits. Three of the hits came in a scoreless first inning and he retired the last 17 batters faced. Was Richmond's Opening Day starter vs. Scranton but had his shortest outing of the season (3.1 IP). Went 5-2 with a 2.59 ERA in nine starts at Richmond. His five wins were tied for first on the club and tied for second most in the IL at the time. Was 3-1 with a 1.52 ERA at home. Threw a complete-game shutout on 5/7 vs. DUR (7.0 IP, 3 H, 10 K). It was the R-Braves' first CG and the IL's first CG and shutout of 2007. His 10 K were a staff season high.
