Had an All-Star first season with KC, setting career highs in starts (34), innings (216), ERA (3.67) and quality starts (23)...equaled his previous career high with 156 strikeouts (also 2006)...he tied for the league-lead in starts and finished eighth in innings...Selected to his first A.L. All-Star team, but did not pitch...His 3.67 ERA was the best by a Kansas City starting pitcher since Kevin Appier posted a 3.40 ERA in 1997 while his 23 quality starts tied for the 14th-best mark in a Royals uniform and the most since 1993...Posted just a 9-13 record due mostly to the worst run support in the American League (3.92 runs/9 innings) and the fourth-worst support in baseball...the Royals scored 12 runs for him while he was on the mound in his 13 losses...Lasted at least 7 innings in 15 of his 34 starts and at least 6 innings in 27 of the 34...Was incredibly consistent striking out between 22 and 29 in each of the six months of the season...Named Royals Pitcher of the Month for April after going 2-1 with a 2.18 ERA (41.1 IP, 45 H, 10 ER) in 6 starts...Meche became the 18th different pitcher to start Opening Day for the Royals when he toed the rubber on April 2 against the Red Sox...he was also sixth consecutive different pitcher to start the opener for Kansas City dating to 2002... he earned a 7-1 win by allowing just one run on six hits in 7.1 innings...he walked one and struck out six...the 7.1 innings were the most by a KC starter on Opening Day since Bret Saberhagen went 8.0 innings in a 5-3 loss to Toronto on April 4, 1988...Through 9 starts, Meche's 1.91 ERA was tied for the 4th-best mark among Royals pitchers to begin a season and tied for the 2nd-best mark to begin a Royals career...only Bret Saberhagen (1.66 in 1987), Kevin Appier (1.76 in 1992) and Larry Gura (1.86 in 1980) have started a season with a better ERA...Lost 5 straight starts from May 19 to June 9 before winning 4 straight decisions over a 7-start period from June 15 to July 20...lost 6 straight decisions in a 9-start span from July 25 to Sept. 9...Did not allow more than 3 runs in any of his final 10 starts, recording a 2.97 ERA over that span...Recorded his fifth career complete game in a 3-2 loss at Baltimore on Sept. 24.

Went 11-8 for Seattle with a 4.48 ERA in tying a career-high with 32 starts (also 2003)...reached double-digit wins for the 3rd time in his 6 Major League seasons, including his 2nd-straight double-digit win campaign...His 55 career wins are 8th-most in Mariners history...Set new career highs with 186.2 innings, 156 strikeouts and 84 walks...Had 15 quality starts, 2nd on the Mariners, and allowed 2 runs or less 14 times and 3 earned runs or less in 21 of 32 starts...Seattle went 18-14 in his 32 starts...Went 7-4 with a 3.76 ERA (88.2 IP, 37 ER) in 14 home starts, but recorded a 4-4 record with a 5.14 ERA (98.0 IP, 56 ER) in 18 road starts...Held left-handed hitters to a .240 (81-338) average while right-handers hit .271 (102-376)...allowed 14 of his 24 home runs to right-handers...Hitters recorded just a .238 (40-168) average with runners in scoring position against him...Went 9-4 with a 3.83 ERA over his 1st 20 starts (122.1 IP, 112 H, 52 ER)...was just 2-4 with a 5.74 ERA in his last 12 starts (64.1 IP, 71 H, 41 ER)...Won a career-high 5-straight decisions from June 5-July 5...was 5-0 over 9 starts with a 2.65 ERA (57.2 IP, 17 ER)...Went 3-0 with a 1.60 ERA (33.2 IP, 6 ER) in 5 starts from June 5-29...Recorded his 4th-career complete game in an 8-1 win on June 17 vs. San Francisco...allowed just 1 run on 5 hits, matching a career-low for hits allowed in a complete game...Posted a 4-game losing streak from July 25-Aug. 16...went 0-4 in 5 starts with a 9.58 ERA (20.2 IP, 22 ER)...was winless over a 9-start span from July 19-Sept. 6, going 0-4 with a 5.36 ERA (48.2 IP, 29 ER)...snapped the skid with a 4-2 win on Sept. 12 vs. Toronto...Worked just 1.0 inning and allowed a career-high tying 9 runs (4 earned) on Aug. 11 at Texas...allowed just 1 hit, but walked a season-high 6 batters.

Made 26 starts despite stint on DL in late August, and appeared in three games in relief after making only one relief appearance in his career prior to 2005...Was 10-6, 4.72 in 19 starts thru July 17, but 0-2, 6.23 in 10 games, 7 GS, from July 23 to end of season...One of three pitchers in the Majors with 4 wins in Interleague Play in 2005...was 4-1, 4.91 (16 ER/29.1 IP) vs. the NL...Was fifth in the American League in walks allowed with 72...Was 6-2 in his 13 starts in Safeco Field, 4-6 in 13 road starts...His 44 career wins as a Mariner tie him with Glenn Abbott for ninth on the all-time Mariners win list (8. Had an up and down season, posting a 1-5 record with a 7.06 ERA (43.1 IP, 34 ER) in 10 starts prior to the All-Star break...following the break and 10 starts with Tacoma (AAA), bounced back to go 6-2 with a 3.95 ERA (84.1 IP, 37 ER) in 13 starts...Made 10 starts for Tacoma from June 6-July 25, going 1-3 with a 5.05 ERA...Pitched 6 or more innings in 10 of his 13 starts following his recall to the Majors on July 30...Walked 29 while striking out 41 before being optioned to Tacoma...walked just 18 while striking out 58 following his recall...Posted the shortest start of his career on May 14 at New York, lasting just 0.2 innings and allowing 3 runs...Recorded his 1st career complete-game shutout on Sept. 12 vs. Boston in a 2-0 Mariners win...allowed just 5 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4 in the route-going performance...Had a 3-game winning streak over a span of 4 starts from Sept. 12-28...was 3-0 with a 3.76 ERA (26.1 IP, 11 ER) over that span as Seattle went 4-0 in those games.

Pitched at AA San Antonio and was 0-3, 10.38 in six starts (21.2 IP, 25 ER), before going to the bullpen on May 7...was 3-1, 6.16 in 12 relief appearances (19.0 IP, 13 ER) before returning to rotation on July 20... 1-2, 3.33 in final seven starts (24.1 IP, 9 ER)...was scored on in just three of final 10 games (29.1 IP, 9 ER)...pitched for Lara in the Venezuelan Winter League and was 2-1, 3.54 in five starts (28.0 IP, 11 ER).
2001
Spent entire season on the disabled list recovering from surgery; had arthroscopic surgery on Feb. 6, to repair partially frayed rotator cuff; surgery performed by Dr. James Andrews...had exploratory surgery in his right AC joint on October 3.
2000
First full season in Majors was cut short with arm troubles...lost first four decisions before evening record at 4-4 with a 3.78 ERA in 15 starts...placed on the 15-day DL with a strained right shoulder May 30, retroactive to May 29...was 3-0 with a 1.61 ERA in the month of June...earned first career complete game and shutout in rain-shortened (5 innings) 7-0 victory at Kansas City June 13 (5.0,1,0,0,1,2)...had team-high 15 scoreless innings streak snapped, but earned the win vs. Baltimore June 23 (6 IP, 2 ER)...optioned to Tacoma July 5 to make a start during the Major League All-Star break...made two starts, going 1-0, 4.00 with the Rainiers before being recalled to Seattle and placed on the 15-day disabled list July 31 with a strained right shoulder...made a rehab start at single-A Wisconsin (5.0,1,0,0,2,6) Aug. 22...shut down for the season after one inning in a rehab start with single-A Everett Aug. 27 with discomfort in his right shoulder.
1999
Joined Mariners rotation following July call-up...made ML debut on July 6 start at Anaheim going 5.2 innings and giving up only 2 earned runs...was 20 years, nine months, 28 days at time of debut, the youngest Mariner to make debut since Alex Rodriguez debuted at the age of 18 years, 11 months and 11 days in 1994 and the youngest Mariner pitcher to make debut since Mike Hampton debuted on April 17, 1993 at the age of 20 years, 7 months, 8 days...made only relief appearance of season July 11 at Los Angeles...recorded first ML win in second start, 7-5 July 19 vs. Arizona going 7 innings and giving up 3 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4.
1998
Led Mariners farm system with 168 strikeouts...3.44 ERA was third in the organization among starters...averaged 10.2 strikeouts per nine innings (168 K, 149.0 IP), fifth among Midwest League hurlers...was named Wisconsin's Co-Pitcher of the Year...was named to the MWL mid-season all-star squad.
1997
Began the year with Everett...fired 7.0 innings of shutout in first pro start, winning at Eugene June 17...had 6.0 innings of shutout in next start June 22 vs. Southern Oregon... finished June 2-0, 1.42 (19.0 IP, 3 ER)...tossed first career complete game Aug. 3 vs. Yakima, allowing one run on five hits...transferred to Wisconsin Aug. 20.
