Graduated from Glendora (CA) High School...attended Citrus College (Glendora, CA), where he started as shortstop before converting to pitcher in 1994...went 6-0 with 2.27 ERA...attended University of Southern California...led Trojans to National Championship game in 1995 College World Series...earned Most Outstanding Player honors in West Regional....married (Erin Larson)...son (Camden John, Oct. 11, 2002).
2004
Returned to big leagues for 1st time since 2002, appearing in 5 games (2 starts) for San Francisco...Spring Training non-roster invitee went 0-2 with 8.78 ERA in big league stint...opened season at triple-A Fresno before having contract purchased by Giants April 14 to start that afternoon's contest vs. Milwaukee...suffered defeat as Giants fell 3-0 despite yielding 2 runs over 6.0 innings...made 4 more appearances (1 start) for Giants before being designated for assignment April 28...returned to Fresno before having contract sold to LG Twins of Korean League May 13...went 4-4 with 4.75 ERA (32er, 60.2ip) in 15 games (11 starts) abroad.

Logged entire campaign with triple-A Charlotte of White Sox chain...established career high with 15 wins for Knights...went 15-9 with 3.98 ERA (77er, 174.1ip) over 28 starts...paced International League in victories...led club in wins, starts, complete games (2), innings and ranked 2nd in strikeouts (106)...went to big league Spring Training with Chicago as non-roster invitee.

Spent season in Toronto organization, spending most of year working out of rotation at triple-A Syracuse...was acquired during off season in exchange for DH Brad Fullmer...opened season with Syracuse, but did not make appearance...contract was purchased by Blue Jays April 6...made start next day vs. Minnesota, suffering defeat after allowing 7 runs in 5 innings...posted no decision April 12 at Tampa Bay (3.1ip,6er) before being outrighted to Syracuse...led Skychiefs in wins (9) and innings (155.2), going 9-9 with 4.90 ERA (84er, 154.1ip) in 25 starts.

Logged final season in Angels chain, spending majority of year at triple-A Salt Lake...made 7 appearances (1 start) for Anaheim, including 1st career relief appearance Sept. 10 vs. Seattle...retired 1st 11 batters faced in Oct. 7 start vs. Oakland...ranked 2nd in Pacific Coast League in innings (173.0), 3rd in wins (12) and starts (28).

Climbed 3 rungs on Angels' ladder, which was capped off by Major League callup in September...spent majority of year at double-A Erie, where he led Eastern League in complete games (6) and finished 2nd in walks per 9.0 innings (1.65), 5th in strikeouts (143) and 7th in ERA (3.30)...earned EL All-Star honors...earned promotion to Edmonton Aug. 10 before Sept. 4 promotion to Anaheim...earned victory in big league debut Sept. 7 vs. White Sox, allowing 1 run on 4 hits over 7.0 innings...lone run was leadoff HR by Chris Singleton.

Saw 1st action at double-A level, going 8-10 with 7.13 ERA in 32 games (24 starts) for Midland...led Texas League in strikeouts (141), while ranking 2nd in complete games (5) and 4th in innings (161.2).
