2009

Made the club with an impressive Spring Training and was the Dodgers' main left-handed pinch-hitter until suffering a season-altering injury two weeks into the season...Signed a minor league contract on February 26 and made the Opening Day roster after batting .268 with three home runs and 13 RBI in 23 Spring Training games...Went 3-for-11 (.273) with a double and two RBI in 12 pinch-hit appearances...M issed 123 games with a dislocated right shoulder after injuring it sliding into second base for a two-run double on April 16 vs. San Francisco...Played in 14 rehab games, batting .293 (17-for-58) with two homers and 12 RBI for Single-A Inland Empire and Triple-A Albuquerque...After returning from his injury on Sept. 2, singled in his first pinch-hit at-bat....went 4-for-13 in 13 games after the injury...In the final game of the season vs. Colorado on Oct. 4, went 3-for-4 with an RBI...was his only start all year...was his first three-hit contest since Aug. 11, 2008 at New York.

Spent his first season in the National League with the New York Mets, hitting .240 (66-for-275) with 11HR and 29RBI in 87 games (79 starts at first base)...struck out just 39 times while drawing 32 walks...collected his 1st career grand slam on 4/21 at Florida (2nd inning off Al Leiter)...had a season-high 4 RBI in the contest...gave the Mets a lead with six of his 11 home runs...hit solo home run (off Julio Santana) in the 8th inning on 5/7 to snap a 5-5 tie in a 7-5 win at Milwaukee...Hit solo home run off former teammate LaTroy Hawkins in the 8th inning on 5/9 at Chicago (NL) to snap a 4-4 tie and secure a 7-5 win...was placed on the 15-day disabled list from 6/26-7/16 with a strained right hamstring...posted his best month of the season in July, batting .314 (11-for-35)...was placed on the 15-day D.L. for a second time from 8/9 (retro to 8/4) - 9/2 with a sore lower back...hit safely in 14 of his final 21 games (with an at-bat), posting a .317 average (20-for-63) 8R, 6 doubles, 2HR and 5 RBI.
