Gregory Owen Zaun...graduated from St. Francis (CA) High School...his mother, Cherie, is a former professional golfer who once served as the women's golf coach at the University of Southern California...nephew of both Rick Dempsey (former Major League catcher) and Pat Dempsey (former minor league catcher)...is an avid fan of the band Rush...he and his wife, Jamie, reside in Palm Harbor, FL.
2010
Played in 28 games for MIL, all starts behind the plate, but missed the majority of the campaign after undergoing season-ending right shoulder surgery to repair a labrum tear...Batted .265 (27-for-102) with seven doubles and two homers with 14 RBI with the Brewers...Batted .333 (27-for-81) after beginning the season 0-for-21....his 0-for- 21 streak tied Brad Nelson (2009) for the franchise record for the most at-bats by a position player without a hit to begin a season...Threw out four of 23 runners attempting to steal (17.4%)...On 4/26 vs. PIT, went 4-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, five RBI and a walk...tied his career highs for runs (eighth time), hits (fourth time) and RBI (fourth time) in that game...Was placed on the 15-day disabled list on 5/21 with a right shoulder strain...underwent season-ending surgery on 6/15 in Cincinnati (Dr. Tim Kremchek)...was transferred to the 60-day DL on 8/12.
