Salomon Ramirez Torres...Wife's name is Belkis Denia Donato...Has two daughters; Ashley (8/28/01) and Allison (8/10/03)...Attended Centro Academico Rogers High School in the Dominican Republic...Signed by Giants scout Elvio Jimenez...Opened a baseball academy in his hometown of San Pedro de Macoris in 2005...Participated in the team's annual Winter Caravan and PirateFest in January 2007.
2007
Went 2-4 with a 5.47 ERA and 12 saves in 56 relief appearances with Pittsburgh...Posted a career best in saves for the second straight season (also had 12 saves in 2006)...Began the season as the Pirates' closer and posted saves in each of the club's first 3 games, becoming only the second pitcher in Major League history ever to do so since saves became an official statistic in 1969...The other pitcher to accomplish the feat was Derrick Turnbow, who saved the Brewers' first 4 games in 2006...Was moved to the setup role on 6/1...For the season went 12-for-18 in save opportunities...Was on the 15-day disabled list from 6/9-7/14 and from 8/26-9/10 with right medial elbow inflammation...Was traded to Milwaukee in exchange for RHP Marino Salas and RHP Kevin Roberts on 12/7.
