Had one of baseball's best second halves, posting a 1-0 record and 0.89 ERA in 30.1 IP (3 ER)...was one of just two relievers to finish an entire half with an ERA under 1.00 (Rob Nen, 0.85 in the second half)...converted 15 consecutive saves in the second half and finished the season with 27 saves, becoming just the second Dodger hurler with three consecutive seasons of 25 or more saves, joining Todd Worrell (1995-97)...Earned his 86th save on September 24 vs. San Diego, moving him into fourth place on the all-time franchise saves list...did not allow a run in eight July appearances, earning four saves...had an 0.73 ERA and six saves in 12 August appearances...had a 16-inning scoreless streak from July 14-August 23 (16.0 IP, 9 H, 14 SO, 6 SV), the most by a Dodger reliever in 2000...placed on the disabled list for the first time in his career from June 28-July 13 (right elbow tendinitis)...lowered his ERA 3.76 points from June 26 to the end of the season (from 8.00 to 4.24)...was the only pitcher on the staff to appear in 50+ games in 1999 and 2000...stranded all nine runners he inherited...had a 1.80 ERA in day games (15.0 IP, 3 ER)...ranks 15th among active MLB pitchers with 160 saves...earned career save No. 150 on August 1 at Pittsburgh...was 2-4 with 12 saves in 29 first half outings... was 1-1 with a 3.12 ERA, seven saves and a .243 opponents batting average in his first 10 games of the season and was 1-3 with a 10.31 ERA, five saves and a .365 opponents batting average in his last 19 appearances before being placed on the DL.

Along with his 4-2 record and 2.38 ERA, posted a then-career-high 42 saves, the 2nd-highest total in Cincinnati history...his .857 save percentage (42 of 49) tied for first in the N.L...did not become the club's closer until Jeff Brantley went on the disabled list on May 20, but still led the N.L. in saves and Rolaids Relief Man Award points standings, becoming the 2nd consecutive Reds pitcher to win both titles...Brantley shared the N.L. lead in 1996 with a team-record 44 saves while winning the N.L. Rolaids Relief Man Award...since the save became an official statistic in 1969, only one other time have 2 different pitchers from the same team led either league in saves in consecutive seasons...White Sox reliever Terry Forster led the A.L. with 24 saves in 1974, while Goose Gossage posted a league-high 26 saves for Chicago in 1975...ranked among N.L. relievers with 94.2 innings (4th) and ERA (4th)...capped off his brilliant season by winning the league's Pitcher of the Month Award for September, his first monthly award...went 0-0 with a 1.20 ERA and 14 saves in 15 games...his 14 saves tied the major league record for saves in September (Cubs' Randy Myers in 1993) and fell one shy of the major league record for saves during any month (15 saves by Yankees' John Wetteland in June 1996 and Cardinals' Lee Smith in June 1993)...from August 25-September 19, converted saves in 15 consecutive appearances, setting a club record and the 3rd-longest such streak in N.L. history (Cubs' Randy Myers, 16 straight in 1993; St. Louis' Lee Smith, 17 in 1993)...had a career-high 74 strikeouts and tied Tom Hume for the Reds' record in games finished (62 in 1980)...threw 4.0 perfect innings with a career-high 7 strikeouts on May 11 at San Diego...
