Acquired by the Royals from the Cubs on May 31 for minor league INF Gookie Dawkins and a player to be named later. Signed a minor league contract with the Cubs on April 1, 2004...called up to the big-league club on May 6 when SS Alex Gonzalez was placed on the disabled list with a broken right wrist...appeared in seven games for the Cubs, recording one hit (a home run) in 15 at-bats.

Played in 109 games for the Red Sox, batting .261 and stealing 16 bases...had 42 hits and scored 34 runs in 161 at-bats. A versatile player, Jackson played all four infield positions and also in the outfield for the Red Sox...played 38 games as an outfielder and did not commit an error.
