Eyre appeared in 74 games, the third straight year he's reached that figure. He was unscored upon in 55 of his total appearances, and struck out at least one batter in 49 games. He stranded 33 of 42 inherited runners (78.6 percent). He picked up his only win Sept. 14 against the Dodgers after striking out two in 1 2/3 innings of relief.

King worked in 86 games in 2004 ... set a franchise mark for most appearances by a southpaw in a season ... also set career marks in strikeouts (65), holds (32) and games finished (15) ... stranded 66 of his 78 inherited runners (84.6 percent), ranking fifth in the majors and second in the National League ... ranked 10th among NL relief pitchers in batting average against (.200) and held left-handed hitters to a .182 mark ... was unscored upon in 73 of his outings and in 24 of his final 27 games, posting a 1.69 ERA after August 10 ... recorded a 1.30 ERA in 44 road games, allowing just 5 earned runs in 34.2 innings ... allowed 4 earned runs on August 7 against Houston ... in his remaining 85 games, he recorded a 2.13 ERA ... worked a season-high 11.2-scoreless innings May 7-June 4 ... allowed just 3 hits and 5 walks while striking out 14 batters over the 14-game span ... earned his first win of the season on April 9 against Colorado, working a scoreless eighth inning in a 4-2 decision ... the Giants scored four runs in the bottom half of the frame to give Eyre the win ... the victory was his third straight (dating back to September 4, 2004), setting a career high.

Split campaign between Chicago and triple-A Charlotte after making 2nd Opening Day roster with White Sox...appeared in 13 games (1 start) with Sox, going 1-1 with 6.63 ERA...lone win came in relief April 7 at Oakland...only start was April 19 vs. Seattle, had no-decision after allowing 2 runs on 5 hits over 3.2 innings...was optioned to Charlotte May 25...appeared in 47 games with Knights, posting 3-2 mark with 3.00 ERA and team-high 12 saves...suffered broken left hand when struck by line drive Aug. 31 at Norfolk, however still recorded out after throwing ball to 1st with his right hand.

Made 21 relief appearances for White Sox before being sidelined with an impingement in left rotator cuff Aug. 30...returned in late Sept. but did not pitch...opened season at Charlotte, where he was 6-4 with 3.82 ERA in 12 games (11 starts)...was recalled from Charlotte June 20...pitched exclusively out of bullpen for 1st time in career.

Spent 1st full season in majors, appearing in 33 games and making 17 starts...was 2-7 with 5.79 ERA (56er, 87.0ip) as starting pitcher and was 1-1 with 3.60 ERA (8er, 20.0ip) in relief...was just 1-7 with 5.42 ERA (50er, 83.0ip) before All-Star Break but improved to 2-1 with 5.25 mark (14er, 24.0ip) in 2nd Half...struck out career-high 7 in successive starts April 14 at Baltimore and April 19 at Toronto...earned victory April 25 vs. Blue Jays, but was winless until defeating Oakland Aug. 12...fired 5.0 hitless innings (1bb,4so) in start vs. A's, but was removed despite no-hitter after reaching pitch limit...from June 21-Aug. 21, went 1-0 with 3.32 ERA (8er, 21.2ip) over 13 outings...3rd victory of season and 1st career relief win came in 17-16, extra-inning contest at Detroit Sept. 14, when he blanked Tigers over final 2.0 frames.

Split season between double-A Birmingham and White Sox...was 4-4 with 5.04 ERA in 11 starts with Chicago...named Southern League Pitcher of Year and selected by Baseball America as league's Most Outstanding Pitcher after going 13-5 with 3.84 ERA in 22 starts for Barons...tied for league lead in wins, ranked 2nd in strikeouts (127) and 3rd in ERA...named to both SL mid-season and post season All-Star teams...was Birmingham's recipient of Charles W. Lubin Award as club MVP...was recalled to Chicago July 31 and lost in his Major League debut Aug. 1 at Anaheim, allowing 6 earned runs in 4.1 innings...1st big league victory came Aug. 13 vs. Angels, as yielded 2 runs (1 earned) on 6 hits over 5.0 frames...combined with fellow rookie Keith Foulke on 4-hit shutout victory against Seattle Aug. 18 at Comiskey Park, allowing 3 hits over 5.0 innings.
