Dodgers trade Gavin Lux to Cincinnati Reds

LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles Dodgers have traded infielder Gavin Lux to the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league outfielder Mike Sirota and the Reds’ Competitive Balance Pick A in the 2025 First Year Player Draft.

Sirota, 21, was the Reds third-round pick in the 2024 First Year Player Draft out of Northeastern University. He played 51 games for the Huskies, batting .298 with seven home runs and 59 RBI. He had a banner sophomore year in 2023, batting .344 with 18 homers and 54 RBI, earning All-America Third Team and All-Region Northeast First Team honors. He finished his collegiate career playing 143 games, batting .324/.458/.577/1.035 with 29 homers and 111 RBI, stealing 48 bases in 57 attempts and walking 120 times against 126 strikeouts. He was drafted by the Dodgers in the 2021 First Year Player Draft out of the Gunnery Frederick Gunn School in Washington, Connecticut but did not sign.

Lux, 27, appeared in 139 games for the Dodgers last season, notching 10 homers and driving in 50 as the primary second baseman. He made his Major League debut with Los Angeles in 2019 and has played in 412 games, slashing .252/.326/.383 with 28 homers and 155 RBI. He was originally drafted in the first round (20th overall) of the 2016 First Year Player Draft out of Indian Trail High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin.
