LOS ANGELES -- Yasiel Puig paused for a moment and contemplated a satisfying Wednesday afternoon at Dodger Stadium. He smiled.

"God blessed me," Puig said following a 5-2 Dodgers victory over the Brewers in Game 5 of the National League Championship Series.
Puig not only appeared in his 51st postseason game for the Dodgers -- nobody in franchise history has played more October baseball than Puig and Andre Ethier -- but he came off the bench and went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI in a win that puts Los Angeles on the cusp of reaching its second consecutive World Series.
"That means a lot," Puig said about his historic postseason run with the Dodgers. "That makes me happy."
Puig pinch-hit for Enrique Hernandez with two outs in the sixth inning. He laced a single to center field to score Manny Machado and give L.A. a 3-1 lead.
"I didn't try to swing too big. I didn't try to hit a home run," Puig said.

Puig then hustled for a double in the eighth inning. He almost stole third base, except he returned to second because of batter's interference.
Puig will pass Ethier for the franchise record in postseason games if he appears in Game 6 on Friday at Miller Park. Puig hopes it will be the final game the Dodgers play in Milwaukee until 2019.
"That's the important game," Puig said. "We want to win, come back for a couple days and wait for Boston or Houston."
