PHOENIX -- X-rays were negative on the left thumb of Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner, who was injured during Wednesday night's 7-2 loss to the D-backs that dropped the Dodgers into second place in the National League West.
Turner took a 104.5-mph grounder off the bat of Paul Goldschmidt that went for an infield single in the fifth inning, two batters before A.J. Pollock's three-run homer made it 6-2. Turner stayed in the game for the duration, then had X-rays taken at Chase Field, but said he was fine.
Manager Dave Roberts was satisfied that Turner will play the final series of the regular season, which begins Friday night in San Francisco.
"There's a little bit of swelling there," said Roberts. "He's certain that nothing is wrong as far as structurally, but it's a little sore right now."
Turner has been one of the Dodgers' best hitters in 2018, slashing .317/.411/.520 with 13 home runs in 409 plate appearances. He missed the first six weeks of the season due to a broken wrist after he was hit by a pitch in Spring Training.
The Dodgers trail the Rockies by a half-game in the division, and lead the Cardinals by a game for the second NL Wild Card spot.
