LOS ANGELES – Kiké Hernández played an integral role in the Dodgers' 2-0 win over the Padres in Game 5 of the National League Division Series, but the Los Angeles utilityman wanted to issue an apology for what happened on the field after the game.

In his postgame interview with FOX, Hernández took a second before answering a question and used a profane word when describing his team’s attitude this season. After watching the clip and understanding the magnitude of the moment and the large viewership, Hernández wanted to make it clear he regretted the moment.

“Last night during my postgame interview, I was really fired up after an incredibly competitive series with the Padres,” Hernández told MLB.com. “I said something in a way that I deeply regret. I used a word on live television I should not have. I apologize if I offended anyone.”

Hernández, who has never been shy during his 10-year MLB career, has been one of the leaders of the Dodgers this season. It was Hernández’s speech before Game 4 that jump-started the club into back to back wins to close out the Padres in the Division Series.

On the field, Hernández’s second-inning homer off right-hander Yu Darvish served as the winning run for the Dodgers. He now has 14 career postseason homers. His 13.43 at-bats per home run is the fifth best in postseason history among players with a minimum of 150 plate appearances.
