LATEST NEWS

Sept. 26: RHP placed on 15-day IL; RHP recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City
Graterol lands on the injured list for the third time this season and the second time because of right shoulder inflammation. The right-hander has been dealing with the injury since Spring Training, which is why his season debut was delayed almost five months. Graterol has been managing the issue, according to manager Dave Roberts, but additional testing revealed that there’s something going on with his shoulder.

Given the calendar and the postseason starting up soon, Graterol’s availability in October is in serious question.

Sept. 26: LHP activated from 15-day IL; RHP placed on 15-day IL
Banda makes his return after missing the last few weeks with a hairline fracture on his throwing hand. He gives the Dodgers another left-hander on the active roster out of the bullpen. As for Honeywell, the cracked right middle fingernail comes as a surprise. Honeywell has pitched well as a multi-inning option out of the Dodgers’ bullpen.

Sept 26: C activated from 10-day IL; C optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City
Barnes is back with the Dodgers after a second stint on the injured list with a fractured left big toe. He will serve as the Dodgers’ backup catcher the rest of the way.

Sept. 26: SS dealing with left adductor tear
Rojas, who exited the game on Wednesday with left groin tightness, got an MRI on Thursday, which revealed a tear on his adductor, forcing him to miss a few games and perhaps the remainder of the regular season. Rojas, however, is still optimistic that he’ll be able to manage the pain and play through the injury in the postseason.

INJURY UPDATES

RHP/DH (elbow surgery)
Expected return:
2025 (as a pitcher)
Ohtani threw 10 pitches in the bullpen on Aug. 24, his first time throwing off a mound since having elbow surgery last September. Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani came out of the session feeling good.

The plan is for Ohtani to ramp up and face hitters in live practice settings before the end of the season and then shut down for the offseason. While the team has long insisted that Ohtani wouldn't pitch in 2024, Roberts reversed course somewhat during a Sept. 13 interview on SiriusXM MLB Network Radio.

“I think that you should always leave some margin, a crack in the door for any possibility,” Roberts said. “If things line up and there’s a need, and the game, [Ohtani’s] body, everything is telling us that it makes sense in that situation, great. It would be storybook.” (Last updated: Sept. 20)

10-day/15-day injured list

RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return:
Maybe sometime in the postseason
Graterol landed on the injured list for the third time this season and the second time because of right shoulder inflammation on Sept. 26. The right-hander has been dealing with the injury since Spring Training, which delayed his season debut until Aug. 6. Graterol has been managing the issue, according to manager Dave Roberts, but additional testing revealed that there’s something going on with his shoulder. (Last updated: Sept. 26)

LHP (bone spur in left big toe)
Expected return: Maybe sometime in the postseason
Kershaw and the Dodgers were hoping the left-hander would be ready to return for the start of the postseason, but that won’t be the case. Kershaw is still not at 100 percent with a left toe injury, which will sideline him for at least a couple more weeks. He said that because he’s not able to throw 100 percent, other small things have popped up in his body as he overcompensates for his toe.

The best-case scenario is for Kershaw to help in the National League Championship Series or World Series. (Last updated: Sept. 24)

RHP (cracked right middle fingernail)
Expected return:
TBD
It was a surprise injury for Honeywell and it’s unclear since when or for how long the right-hander has dealt with the issue. Honeywell has fared well as a multi-inning option out of the Dodgers’ bullpen. (Last updated: Sept. 26)

60-day IL

RHP (right shoulder inflammation)
Expected return:
Likely 2025
Stone, who hasn’t picked up a baseball since experiencing right shoulder inflammation on Sept. 6, was transferred to the 60-day injured list on Sept. 24, officially ending his impressive rookie season.

For Stone and the Dodgers, it’s a disappointment to not get the right-hander back on the mound this season, but they expect him back fully healthy for the start of the 2025 campaign. (Last updated: Sept. 24)

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return: As early as final regular-season series
Gonsolin made his third rehab start with Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sept. 21 and it was his best one yet. The right-hander tossed three hitless innings and struck out six, needing just 45 pitches to get through the outing.

Gonsolin could be an option to pitch in the final series of the regular season at Coors Field, but the Dodgers will wait until he goes through his next bullpen session before determining the next steps. He could be an option for the Dodgers in the postseason. (Last updated: Sept. 22)

RHP (right elbow tendinitis)
Expected return:
2025
After not going through with a simulated game on Sept. 13 due to right elbow discomfort as he warmed up in the bullpen, Glasnow got additional scans to determine the severity of the injury. Those scans revealed a “sprained elbow,” manager Dave Roberts said on Sept. 14. Glasnow, who was transferred to the 60-day IL on Sept. 18, has been shut down from throwing for the foreseeable future, ending his season much sooner than the right-hander and the Dodgers were hoping.

On Sept. 20, Glasnow shared that he doesn't expect to need surgery, but the elbow will require continued monitoring and reimaging before he can resume throwing. (Last updated: Sept. 20)

RHP (right plantar fasciitis)
Expected return:
TBD
Brogdon, who was acquired from the Phillies on April 6, has been sidelined since April 10 and was transferred to the 60-day IL on May 19. He began a rehab assignment with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Aug. 17, throwing a scoreless inning. He moved to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Aug. 20. (Last updated: Sept. 20)

RHP (right forearm tightness)
Expected return:
2025 at earliest
Ryan had successful Tommy John surgery after suffering a UCL strain during his Aug. 11 start against the Pirates. After multiple scans, the Dodgers determined he needed Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old rookie right-hander went 1-0 with a 1.33 ERA in four starts before suffering his season-ending injury. (Last updated: Aug. 25)

RHP (right flexor tendon surgery; esophagus)
Expected return: 2025
May underwent surgery to repair his esophagus and stomach on July 10 after reporting pain in those areas after dinner that day.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said on July 14 that he “was shocked” by the news, noting May was in Arizona.

“Soreness of the throat and the stomach, and goes to the ER and gets surgery,” said Roberts. “He gets surgery, and he’s done for the year. Obviously, him coming back, if everything was great, was still a longer shot. But how his season ended is very unfortunate. I’m just glad he’s OK.”

May underwent right elbow surgery performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache in Los Angeles to repair his flexor tendon July 18, 2023. It was his second major elbow surgery in the past three seasons, and the Dodgers placed him on the 60-day injured list to begin the 2024 season. Read more >> (Last updated: July 14)

RHP (Tommy John surgery)
Expected return:
2025
Sheehan suffered an injury in his first bullpen session of the spring and never got into Cactus League action. The right-hander had started throwing to hitters for the first time, but on May 16 the Dodgers announced that he had undergone successful surgery on his right UCL that would end his 2024 season.
