Yulieski Gurriel busted out the latest mind-bending, tag-avoiding slide at second base
Sliding into bases is hard enough without having a fielder waiting there with the ball, ready to tag you out. Runners have to come up with something creative in order to avoid the tag, and when they do, it can look awe-inspiring.
Yulieski Gurriel is apparently one of the players in the game possessing that special skill, and he used it to great length in the Astros' 6-2 win over the Rangers on Monday night. In the seventh, his bloop to left-center fell in for a hit, and a heads-up Gurriel somehow managed to make it to second with this sterling effort:

The Rangers challenged the play, but a replay review confirmed that yes, Gurriel avoided
Gurriel's masterful move (which came on the heels of a sixth inning that saw mounting tensions lead to a brief benches-clearing moment) was part of a big Astros rally that turned a 2-1 deficit into a 6-2 lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Gurriel's outstanding effort and great slide wound up punctuating quite the turn of events for Houston in what is shaping up to be an exciting, intense Lone Star Series.
