The Mets broadcasters loved this young fan's homemade papier mache Mr. Met costume

Ladies and gentlemen, before you ask: This is not the real head of Mr. Met.

No, Mr. Met is alive and well. Rather, a young Mets fan showed off his Halloween costume -- which he crafted out of papier mache with his mother -- during Wednesday night's 5-2 victory over the Marlins at Citi Field. But now we know that if the real Mr. Met ever needs some time off, his understudy is ready to go -- and no one would be able to tell the difference (well, except for the height difference, maybe).
The Mets' broadcasters were so taken with the life-like recreation of their dear friend that they autographed it for the young fan -- with Keith Hernandez apparently deciding to give Mr. Met a thin 'stache. 
And we agree with Gary Cohen: Mr. Met is a great Halloween costume. He's a beloved Tonight Show guest who literally rubs elbows with Hollywood A-listers. He was once voted the top mascot in all of sports. And he can be quite spooky when he wants to be:
