Photo of the Night: Dee Gordon assumes the fetal position in the middle of the infield

During the first inning of Sunday night's Marlins-Mets game, Terry Collins put on a hit-and-run with Yoenis Céspedes at the plate and Asdrúbal Cabrera at first. Cespedes singled up the middle and Cabrera raced around second to third. Miami second baseman Dee Gordon, however, hit the ground and assumed the fetal position:

Sure, Gordon was probably trying to avoid Cabrera running into him, but, as you can see from the screenshot above, he remained in the position for quite some time afteward. So, what was he doing?
