White Sox outfielder Nicky Delmonico 'hates Cubs fans'

Over the weekend at SoxFest, young White Sox fans got to interview a panel of players that included Adam Engel, Nicky Delmonico, Tim Anderson and Yolmer Sánchez. Most of the questions were fairly innocuous. For example, one kid asked Sanchez just how many coolers he'd be dumping on teammates in 2019 and another wanted to know who they thought was the most handsome player of the quartet. (Amusingly, each player said himself, but Sanchez eventually became the consensus answer.)
Take a look at 2:15 of the video below, though. This young man did not hold back. He wanted to know which fans annoy the players the most. Delmonico did not hesitate.

"Cubs fans," he said. "I hate Cubs fans after playing at Wrigley."
Instant beef in the blink of an eye. It's not quite A.J. Pierzynski brawling with Michael Barrett, but consider the rivalry lit. Kris Bryant was too busy talking smack about Cardinals fans that he forgot to look in his own backyard.

Delmonico got his first taste of the Crosstown Showdown in May 2018, and his frustrations with Wrigley Field could be spotted in the box scores. During his first two games, the White Sox lost to the Cubs and Delmonico was held hitless. It wasn't until game No. 3 that both Delmonico and the White Sox broke through:

This RBI triple turned out to be Delmonico's only hit of the series, but it tied the game at 3. He then scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly from Matt Davidson, and the White Sox won, 5-3, to avoid the sweep.
Maybe that hit was Delmonico's first true shot at the Cubs. The White Sox keep making improvements to their team, so perhaps Cubs fans should watch their backs.
