The Nationals beat the Astros thanks to a ninth-inning play at the plate and a walk-off home run

Tuesday saw the first game played at The Ballpark of The Palm Beaches -- a new Spring Training facility shared by the Nationals and Astros. The two home teams squared off against each other for the The Ballpark of The Palm Beaches championship belt. (It's a figurative belt.) The Nationals won, 4-3, but befitting such a game, it didn't have a boring ending.
With the score tied at 3 in the top of the ninth, the Astros put runners at first and second, when Jon Kemmer hit a ground-ball single to right field. Michael Taylor came up throwing and though his toss didn't get much hang time, it did give Nationals catcher Jhonatan Solano a chance to show off a smooth, spinning, behind-the-back tag.

Taylor told MLB.com's Jamal Collier after the game, "The field's great. The surface is perfect right now. The wind was a little challenging in right, but I think it's a beautiful ballpark." Which is exactly what one would say after the smooth infield grass helped your throw skip right into Solano's waiting glove.
Come the bottom of the ninth, Taylor came to the plate. With his family looking on, this time he got a little bit more hangtime as he crushed Ashur Tolliver's offering deep into the Palm Beach sky.

Taylor couldn't help but credit the wind for the blast. "It felt pretty good," the right fielder said. "And I knew the wind was blowing that way, so I had a little help."
