Billy Hamilton looked downright silly on this swing against Jeff Samardzija
On a sunny Friday afternoon in Wrigley Field, Billy Hamilton came to the plate to lead off the game, looking to enjoy the nice weather and maybe get himself a base hit.
Instead, on a 3-2 pitch, Jeff Samardzija so completely fooled the Reds batter with a 91 mph fastball that Hamilton took an incredibly late, harmless chop at the ball. It was as if Hamilton were swatting at a fly or he had somehow morphed into me during my 1-for-17 Little League season.
Hamilton would soon have his revenge, doubling off of Samardzjia in the top of the fifth and driving in the Reds' first run in their 4-1 victory.
