Billy Crystal busts out Bob Sheppard impression, recalls his own MLB career in Yankees booth

Billy Crystal, the long-time Yankees fan and man behind 61* (among some smaller roles in films you've probably never heard of like When Harry Met Sally, Analyze This, and Monster's Inc), stopped by the Yankees broadcast booth Monday afternoon to talk a little bit about the HBO film version of his autobiographical Broadway play, 700 Sundays. Much more importantly, he was also there to discuss his short-lived time as Derek Jeter's teammate.

For those who don't remember, Crystal received one helluva 60th birthday present when he led off a spring training game in 2008. Facing Paul Maholm, then with the Pirates, Crystal worked the count full, fouling a pitch down the first base line before eventually striking out on a cut fastball under his hands. As the actor noted on Monday, it was Jeter who helped him snag the temporary leadoff gig.
