Ben Revere struck out ... on a pitch that hit his shoulder

I flunked out of baseball pretty early. While my play was pretty terrible in all facets of the game, my biggest problem was in having absolutely no idea where pitches were going or how to hit them.
Turns out, sometimes even Major League hitters have that same problem. Facing the Cardinals' Marco Gonzales on Sunday, Ben Revere went down swinging. That happens all the time, no big deal, right? Well, this one hit him in the shoulder:

But don't worry -- Revere is just fine.
"I was talking to Paul Lessard [the Nationals ' director of athletic training] and he said he thinks Revere will be OK, so he is in the lineup [Monday]," said Dusty Baker.
Honestly, I'm surprised that this doesn't happen more often. Considering the sheer velocity of fastballs and the amount of movement on breaking pitches, the best idea is probably to just close your eyes, swing, and hope for the best. At least, that's what I'd do.
