Trey Mancini made his first career hit a home run, and no one was more excited than his mom

On Sunday, Trey Mancini finally got the call: The Orioles had decided to call up their No. 5 prospect as part of roster expansion. Then, just a couple days later, Buck Showalter penciled Mancini into the lineup for his MLB debut ... against the division-leading Red Sox, in the heat of a pennant race. How did the rookie respond to the pressure? Oh, nothing, he just made his first career hit a solo homer:

It was the culmination of years of hard work and determination, not to mention three seasons in the Minor Leagues. It was also the culmination of more than 24 years of parenting for Mancini's mom, who just happened to grow up an O's fan in nearby Bowie, Md. So, after witnessing her son go yard from the stands, she was ready to celebrate. Like, really celebrate:

She even managed to retrieve the home run ball:

And of course, this fairy tale ended as all of them must: with a curtain call.

Unfortunately, for Mancini and his mom, the Red Sox ended up winning the game, 5-2.
