The Giants will retire Barry Bonds' iconic No. 25 this summer
Barry Bonds fell short of induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame, but he'll still get to celebrate a prestigious honor this summer. On Monday, a day before the official announcement, the Giants hinted they'll retire Bonds' No. 25 in a ceremony on Aug. 11 -- during a game against the Pirates, no less.

Befitting a franchise with 100 seasons, eight World Series titles and 23 pennants to its name, Bonds is joining some elite company. A full list of players whose numbers were retired by the Giants: Christy Mathewson, John McGraw, Bill Terry, Mel Ott, Carl Hubbell, Monte Irvin, Willie Mays, Juan Marichal, Orlando Cepeda, Gaylord Perry and Willie McCovey -- all Hall of Famers.
No word yet on whether his number will hang suspended above McCovey Cove for all eternity, but we can hope.
