J.J. Watt felt the pressure of his first pitch for the Astros, but overcame it with a strike and a smile
It's hard to imagine Houston Texans star J.J. Watt being intimdated by anything -- after all, the 6-foot-5 defensive end is something of an imposing presence anywhere he goes.
And yet, it was his trip to Minute Maid Park before the Astros' 2-1 loss to the A's on Saturday night that definitely did spark a bit of anxiety (or so he said in the clip atop this post) when tasked with tossing a ceremonial first pitch to the waiting Dallas Keuchel.
Despite any concern about flipping up a less-than-perfect pitch, Watt overcame his anxieties with a big smile -- and a solid two-seamer:
It's no real surprise to see Watt excel on the diamond considering he was a standout high school star for Pewaukee High School in Wisconsin, lettering in baseball as well as football (obviously) and track and field. It's especially no surprise to see him do well at Minute Maid Park considering he paid a visit in 2015 to hit rockets all over the field with Angels star
Watt's strike to Keuchel was one of the many things he did with the team during pregame festivities:
He was active during the game as well, heading up to the Astros' TV booth for a chat about his upcoming charity event at MMP in May.
If you ever go to an Astros game, be on the lookout for Watt, who tends to pop up there every now and then.
