Terry Francona woke up from a nightmare to find his glasses covered in peanut butter
"The Princess and the Pea" is about discovering the true heir to the throne by the princess' ability to feel a single pea through a series of mattresses. The sequel should star Terry Francona and be called "The Manager and the TV Remote." Before the Cubs and Indians face off in a sure-to-be-legendary World Series Game 7, the manager admitted that he woke up from a nightmare the night before to find that he was sleeping on his TV remote.
"It's not like I haven't embarrassed myself before," the manager said after learning that the story had already exploded on Twitter. "I was having a nightmare that somebody was breaking my ribs and I woke up and my ribs hurt. I kind of got scared. And I felt there, and the TV remote was stuck in my rib cage. Evidently, I had slept on it for a couple hours. I got up to go to the bathroom and, I mean, it hurt."
"It's not easy being manager," he continued. "My bedroom looked like a national disaster last night. I'm going to have to change a few habits when we're done here."
That's not the end of it, though. Because Francona also woke up to find his glasses covered in peanut butter from dipping pretzels in a jar of it before bed.
"I go straight home and I hit the bed and everything's laid out next to me," the skipper said. "And I fell asleep at some point while eating. I wake up sometimes in the middle of the night and I'll just reach over and grab something. Unfortunately, it's true."
