Top Dodgers prospect Jose De Leon discusses his rise through the Minors and teammate Julio Urias

Twenty-fourth-round picks out of mid-major schools aren't usually the type of player you associate with any sort of top prospect list. And after a rough professional debut in the Pioneer League in 2013 (6.96 ERA in 53 innings), it didn't seem like Jose De Leon was going to be the one to break the mold either.
But something clicked in Spring Training of 2014: With a few upticks of velocity and some mechanical adjustments, De Leon was suddenly one of the best pitching prospects in all of baseball.
The Puerto Rico native has enjoyed immense success at every full-season level since his breakout two years ago, and he entered the 2016 season as the No. 20 prospect in baseball according to MLB Pipeline. De Leon is now with Triple-A Oklahoma City, just a step away from the big leagues.
The 23-year-old sat down with our friends at Cespedes Family BBQ before Tuesday's game against Colorado Springs to discuss his meteoric rise, playing with fellow top prospect Julio Urias and, of course, his thoughts on Kevin Durant leaving OKC. See the full clip above.
