This professor gave his student the best excuse for skipping class to see the Cubs' parade
The Cubs' historic World Series victory has seen some remarkable loosening of attendance regulations. This Ohio University professor waved away a student's absence after seeing that he was attending a World Series game and a number of Chicago students ignored the rigmarole of "Forgot I had a doctor's appointment" and instead said they were late because of the Cubs.
That extends to the Cubs' parade, too. With the city of Chicago celebrating on Friday, college student Kayla Amber sent a short note to her professor explaining her absence. Rather than merely accept the one sentence explanation, her professor sent back a much better excuse:
My professor understands. #Cubs #WorldSeries #cubsparade pic.twitter.com/IEVdNiDQBK

Here's the text if you have trouble reading it:
"I think what you meant to say is as a criminal justice student, you are very interested in how police handle large crowds. For this reason you have decided to get first hand research seeing the Chicago Police work with a large crowd. I think it is very commendable that you are so dedicated to criminal justice, that you are spending your time and money to do this important research. Please be safe. Dr. Connelly."
Of course, Kayla did have another teacher not so willing to accept that reason as a legitimate excuse (probably an Indians fan, if we're guessing). She told CNN that she would worry about that issue later as she was already downtown.
At least she didn't email her teachers, "Please see tweet."

I will not be in class tomorrow because I am going to the @Cubs parade. I'm sure you understand my priorities.
