After losing bet, St. Louis amusement park renames roller coaster in honor of Cubs
St. Louis amusement park renames coaster after Cubs
When two teams face off in a postseason series, it's often customary for representatives of those two municipalities to make a small wager on the outcome. The most common such occurrence is the standard mayoral bet, in which the two elected city mayors dare one another do either don the winning team's jersey or eat the victorious city's signature dish.
In the case of the Cardinals and Cubs NLDS, which the Cubs claimed in four games, those representatives were amusement parks.
Two parks, Six Flags Great America (based in Illinois) and Six Flags St. Louis, made a small proposition on Twitter -- the losing park would have to change the name of one roller coaster in honor of the winning team:
It's on @SFStLouis! Losing team's park will have to rename a coaster. Get ready for Cubs Thunder! #FlyTheW pic.twitter.com/GCIuutt5NE

@SFGreat_America Nope, Raging Cardinals all the way!

And sure enough, after the Cubs' series win on Tuesday:

So, it seems as though the Cubs are bringing the thunder to the NLCS, courtesy of St. Louis. They'll need it too: Thor and the Mets are already promising to bring the lightning to the Windy City:
But first, the Cubs travel to New York for Game 1 of the NLCS, which you can watch on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET on TBS.
