Red Sox play-by-play man Dave O'Brien was just too slow to evade a Travis Shaw foul tip

Whenever a hitter fouls a pitch back, there's probably a small part of you that wants it to land in the broadcast booth. In reality, it happens more than you'd think -- and on Tuesday, it happened to the Red Sox crew during Boston's 4-1 loss to the White Sox.
Dave O'Brien and Steve Lyons were comfortably describing the action of the seventh inning at U.S. Cellular Field when Travis Shaw launched a foul tip back toward them. O'Brien tried to run for cover, but it was too late: The ball smacked into his back pocket, prompting an onomatopoeic "Ungh!" Thankfully, his wallet was there to cushion the blow.
Lyons, a former Major Leaguer who played every single position at least once in his career, obviously felt somewhat responsible: "I couldn't get there in time to save you, man!"
A true shame. O'Brien was perfectly all right -- escaping with nothing more than a bruise on his ego. But that bruise was easily cured by nature's best medicine: a fist-bump.
