Randal Grichuk lost to gravity and face-planted when he stole second base

Merely walking around without tripping and smashing your face into something is difficult enough, so it's amazing that baseball players manage to do actual athletic things without racking up dozens of facial contusions. Unfortunately for Randal Grichuk on Wednesday, he had to join the rest of the gangly-limbed population for a moment when he slid into second base face-first. 
With the Cardinals leading the Angels in the top of the fourth, Grichuk made his move to steal second. But either because of a miscalculation or a brief change in gravity, Grichuk put the "head" into "head-first slide":
