There's an old adage that if you look good, you'll feel good. Coming off a 35-home run season, and after displaying this kind of glovework in the Orioles' 3-2 Opening Day victory against the Blue Jays, we have to assume that
Could it be due to Machado's white-and-orange cleats? Maybe this is "Like Mike" and he's powered by footwear.
These weren't just creamsicle-colored Air Jordan 12's, though. The inside of the tongue featured 305, the area code for Miami where the star third baseman went to high school. Even better: Skittles on the insert.

Now there is just one mystery: What does "MYK" stand for? According to Wikipedia, it is a surname for one of the original families from the PRUS I dynasty in the 13th century. We're just going to guess that's not what it stands for.
UPDATE: Thanks to a faithful Cut4 reader, it looks like the initials may be for his wife and his best friend:
