Jack Murphy was definitely filming a 1970s period piece before Dodgers Photo Day

Things I know about catcher Jack Murphy: He is a non-roster invitee at Dodgers Spring Training this year. He spent the previous seven seasons in the Blue Jays system. He played four seasons in the Australian Baseball League and became a "cult hero."
But what I want to know about Jack Murphy is: When he walked into Dodgers photo day on Saturday, what movie set did he walk off of?

OK, it might not have been a movie set. It may have been a television set. But Murphy was definitely filming some sort of mid-70s period piece immediately before taking these photos.

Was he an extra on "Vinyl," that new HBO show about the 1970s NYC rock scene? Is he the star of Richard Linklater's sorta-sequel to "Dazed and Confused" (it is about baseball players, apparently)? Is Christian Bale doing his "American Hustle" character again? I want to know.
Unless he's always had this phenomenally retro mustache-hair combo. Then I'd just have to say: Kudos, Mr. Murphy. Kudos.
