Nick Pivetta made an excellent catch on an Austin Barnes line drive ... with his jersey
Fresh off battling the A's from the bench in a Saturday rain-delay standoff,
After the Dodgers began the game with back-to-back homers that included Chris Taylor's inside-the-parker, Pivetta shut out their potent lineup during the remainder of his six innings, fanning eight batters in the process. With two outs in the top of the sixth and 102 pitches behind him, Pivetta faced Austin Barnes in what was to be his final batter of the game.
Barnes did his best to extend the at-bat, though -- he hit Pivetta's first pitch right on the nose ...
... but right into Pivetta's jersey, of all places.
Pivetta could only throw the ball behind him in amusement after ending the inning in such a bizarre manner. However, it was a timely play -- the Phillies were losing 2-0 at the time, but after Pivetta's catch,
It was a much better fate than, say, what happened to the A's
Yeah, Pivetta will definitely take the out and the win, instead.
