We timed a few mound visits from the 2015 World Series and here are the results

New pace of play and slide rules were announced for the 2016 season on Thursday. Along with the "Neighborhood Play" being subject to review, runners having to make a more bona fide slide attempt into second base and shorter breaks in between innings, coaches will now only have 30 seconds per mound visit. That's 30 seconds climbing out of the dugout, getting to the mound and then leaving the mound. 30 seconds! That's the same amount of time in which your body can make 72 million red blood cells. The White Stripes once performed a concert in half-a-minute.
But can MLB coaches do their duty in that same time period?
Well, we set a timer on four 2015 World Series mound visits in the above video and, unsurprisingly, both Mets pitching coach Dan Warthen and Royals pitching coach Dave Eiland timed under the threshold. Neither of them even seemed to be rushing too much. Hopefully it ends up being an easy, time-saving rule to follow. And just to make sure, please, any moonwalking should be kept to a minimum.
