Michael Taylor homers directly into a fan's open backpack
If you watch enough baseball, you think you've seen all the best ways to catch a home run. A hat is always a solid choice, a beverage cup even better, as long as you don't mind the mess. But it turns out that there's something exceptionally satisfying about watching a home run fly directly into a fan's open backpack, as if the batter had it planned all along:
That was one of Michael Taylor's two home runs in the Nationals' 6-3 loss to the Padres on Sunday, a solo shot to lead off the game. Yet the most impressive thing about it might very well have been the fan's perfectly placed baseball receptacle.
And at least we know the fan will have no trouble carrying it home.
