Fulmer, 23, racked up 132 strikeouts en route to his honor, notching a 7.5 K/9 ratio along the way -- a few behind rotation mate
That's a one-two punch that misses a lot of bats, and, apparently, they had a friendly agreement in place should Fulmer win the award.
Also, congrats to @MFulmer12 for being a finalist for #ALROY !! Winner buys dinner next year. 😜 @MLB

That led to this:
Or it could be one ROY buying another ROY a dinner a decade later. @MFulmer12 @MLB #goodluck #ivoteFulmer #ALROY

And then, after Fulmer did win the award, this:
I guess I owe @JustinVerlander dinner now. Thank you to everybody for a memorable season. Congrats to @ElGarySanchez and @TyNaquin as well

And this response from an obviously excited Verlander:
.@MFulmer12 yessssss. 💵💵💵 https://t.co/9Zl62Ssy5p

A free dinner's a free dinner! That's something everybody can support, right? Besides, it also earned Fulmer a new nickname from his veteran teammate:
.@MFulmer12 congratulations! Only get one crack at that award. Glad to see all of your hard work pay off! And now I shall call u Roy #ROY

Congratulations indeed, "Roy."
