Mets put bandage on Home Run Apple after dinger
During the sixth inning of Saturday night's NLCS Game 1, Travis d'Arnaud celebrated the heart of apple season in New York by blasting a solo homer directly at the Citi Field Home Run Apple, as if to summon its celebratory bob, or in an attempt to juice the apple for enough cider to fill the Long Island Sound.
It was a literal dinger.
So, as is recommended with bruised fruits and dinged ballpark amenities, the Mets marked the spot where the apple was hit:

I know that an apple a day keeps the doctor away, but I guess this is what happens when an apple has to go to the doctor.
