Manny Ramirez slides into first-and-a-half base
Come, children, and drink from the the bottomless well of delight that is Manny Ramirez's debut season in the Chinese Professional Baseball League.
Manny brought his signature surreal touch to last Friday's EDA Rhinos game with an unusual baserunning decision. In an attempt to beat the throw to second, he mysteriously chose to slide -- coming to a stop about 10 feet short of the base.
The best part? There's no doubt he'd have reached second safely if he'd just kept running. The clip would make a great ad for LensCrafters Taiwan:
Maybe Manny forgot that the Rhinos' uniforms don't come standard with either in-cleat jetpacks or stilts.
Considering Manny's batting .347 with five homers on the season (stats that rank him No. 7 and No. 1, respectively, within the CPBL), he's more than entitled to a little weirdness. And we love him for it.
