Kyle Schwarber went back to school -- to be Indiana's honorary captain for its game vs. UNC

Before he made his presence felt on the Cubs by mashing homer after ridiculous homer and being a postseason hero despite nearly missing an entire season's worth of games, Kyle Schwarber was a Hoosier.
And now, after the Cubs' cathartic World Series victory over the Indians last month (and subsequent media tour), he headed back to school -- specifically to be honorary captain of the men's basketball team (ranked No. 13 nationally) for its anticipated showdown with North Carolina (No. 3) on Wednesday night.
Apparently, Schwarber was invited by coach Tom Crean back in July after Crean called him to offer some well-wishes during Schwarber's rehab work.
As quoted by the Hoosier.com, Crean said he offered to make Schwarber honorary captain for the team's big game vs. the Tar Heels.
Crean then expanded upon what exactly the role of an "honorary captain" might entail:
"He gets tickets," Crean said. "He's going to practice, gets to hang out, gets his expenses paid, I guess. We'll have a gift for him. We'll trade for some autographs."
Naturally, IU was excited about the Schwarbs' return:

So, too, was Crean:

And, of course, Schwarber himself:

Before the game began, Schwarber was given a red carpet reception, a loud ovation and a stirring rendition of, what else, "Go Cubs Go":

This all sounds like a fun gig, if you can get it.
And in the end, all was well for Schwarber and Indiana, who won the marquee matchup over North Carolina:

Pretty good night to be a Hoosier.
