On an 87-degree afternoon game against the Royals on Sunday, he found a way to contribute to his team's cause from the dugout: With a spray bottle of water.
He started out by making sure third-base coach Nick Capra's hair looked good despite wearing a helmet all day:
And, with the warm conditions at Guaranteed Rate Field, Abreu helped keep his teammates cool with a refreshing mist:
Even though he may have undertaken these efforts to discourage Rick Renteria from putting him the DH slot again, Abreu's exploits may well have gone a long way to keeping his teammates fresh on a warm afternoon as they hung 10 runs on the Royals. Strangely enough, this performance might just lead to Renteria putting his slugger at DH more often.
