Jon Lester was disappointed to learn the new CBA doesn't exempt him from having to throw to first
MLB's players and owners reached a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) on Wednesday night, but one individual's top priority went unaddressed: Jon Lester.
While my efforts to eliminate pitchers from having to throw to 1B didnt pass, I'm proud of the PA & Owners for coming together on a new CBA!

Lester is a brilliant pitcher -- one of the best in baseball -- but throwing to first base is a real challenge for him. Sometimes, weird things happen when he tries it:
Sometimes he tries to compensate for his difficulties by letting the ground help him out:
And sometimes his throws over are merely beyond saving:
Needless to say, Lester would have a much easier time of it all if baseball simply stopped the madness of trying to make him throw to a base. Unfortunately for him, this CBA did not address his completely reasonable wishes. Maybe next time.
