Javier Báez continued to amaze on Thursday night. No, he wasn't blowing bubbles while simultaneously bat-flipping or making an impressive grab in shallow outfield. He was too busy showing off some impressive baserunning skills. In the top of the second inning during the Cubs-Brewers game on Thursday, the Cubs second baseman singled on a ground ball to center field. Jon Lester then hit a ball up the middle and reached base on a fielding error by Hernán Pérez. And well, there went Baez, as the ball slowly trickled into center field:
Following his journey around the bases, he slid home and was safe, mainly because he said so. At least, that's how it appeared:
